What Florida Residents Should Know Before Purchasing Auto Coverage

Bodily injury coverage is not required by law in Florida but what you do not know can hurt you. The Florida DMV will allow Florida residents to register and drive on the road with only PIP and property damage coverages.  The “Florida Financial Responsibility Law” states that any person at fault in a crash that results in bodily injury and property damage to others must have an active auto insurance policy with minimum bodily injury coverage limits of 10,000 per person 20,000 per accident bodily injury and PIP 10,000 coverage. Not having this minimum coverage can result in  consequences for you as a Florida driver. Some of the consequences may include, suspension of license, fines, increased insurance costs, etc.
